There are two resons for service provider to deploy DWDM on its network:
- Traffic volume exceeds 10 Gbit/s and purchasing or renting an additional optical fiber is unprofitable;
- Transmission distance exceeds either 100 km or 120 km. This requires usage of EDFA together with DWDM equipment.
